Description

New Zealander Bob Charles struggled with his putting at the Ninth U.S. Senior Open Championship. During the tournament, he made putts of 10 and 12 feet for birdies at the 8th and 11th holes, respectively, but missed short birdie chances at 13 and 17, which are notoriously nasty putting surfaces. Charles lost to Gary Player after the 18-hole playoff round on August 9, 1988.
