Description

American athlete Mildred Ella "Babe" Didrikson Zaharias (right), visited Medinah Country Club in 1937-38. She received some golf lessons from Medinah's Head Pro Tommy Armour. Shaking hands with Babe is the club's assistant pro Charley Penna. Babe accomplished extraordinary success in track and field, golf and basketball. She is one of the women around whom the WPGA and then the reorganized LPGA was organized. In 1938, Babe became the first woman to play in a professional men's tournament.
